Sarah Kelton (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate (LPC-A) supervised by Jaclyn N. Sepp, MA, LPC-S, RPT-S™, NCC, RYT®200, and Sheila Wessels, MEd, LPC-S, RPT-S™. Sarah earned her bachelor's degree in Applied Learning and Development and her master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently working toward her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential.
With six years of experience in public education and two years as a school counselor, Sarah has a strong foundation in supporting children and families. She was honored with the CREST award (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Texas) by the Texas School Counseling Association and was nominated for School Counselor of the Year in Austin ISD. Her experience includes roles as a gifted and talented coordinator, social-emotional learning facilitator, and parent support specialist. As a Neurosequential Model of Education (NME) Facilitator, Sarah regularly implements trauma-informed practices and Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI).
Sarah utilizes child-centered play therapy as her primary approach, recognizing that play is the natural language of children. By following the child’s lead, she creates a safe and supportive environment that fosters trust and unconditional acceptance, key elements that serve as the main agents of behavioral change. In her work, Sarah partners with caregivers, equipping them with tools to strengthen their relationship with their child at home. This collaborative effort helps set a solid groundwork for change, empowering families to navigate challenges together.
Sarah's expertise spans various areas, including ADHD, anxiety, emotional disturbances, and trauma. She believes in each child's innate ability to grow and thrive, using modalities like bibliotherapy, art therapy, and sand-tray therapy to meet them at a developmentally appropriate level. Sarah is an original Austinite and loves photography, knitting, rock climbing, and hiking with her husband and dog.
SARAH IS PARTICULARLY WELL-SUITED TO SUPPORT FAMILIES:
