Dakota is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Institute of Play Therapy Certified Sandtray Therapist (IPT-CST). She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas through their nationally recognized play therapy program and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development.
With years of experience working with children of diverse abilities and backgrounds, Dakota brings a deep understanding of supporting individuals through developmental, emotional, relational, and behavioral challenges. Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked in early childhood education as a teacher in an inclusive classroom, creating spaces where children of all abilities could thrive. Her clinical work has further strengthened her commitment to ensuring children and families feel seen, valued, and supported. Dakota specializes in working with children experiencing developmental disorders, grief and loss, family and life transitions, and emotional or behavioral concerns.
Dakota is deeply committed to creating environments where all identities, abilities, and lived experiences are celebrated. She is passionate about fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging, both in her professional practice and in her personal life. Dakota recognizes the importance of continually doing her own work—unlearning biases, growing in cultural humility, and creating and advocating for spaces for others to feel safe and respected.
Her therapeutic approach is rooted in child-centered play therapy and expressive arts, where she focuses on building genuine, collaborative relationships with her clients. She believes in the healing power of allowing children the freedom to fully express themselves and works closely with caregivers to address the unique needs of each family.
Originally from the Dallas area, Dakota moved to Austin with her family in 2019. As a parent of a toddler, she enjoys exploring all that Austin has to offer while balancing the joys and challenges of parenthood.
