Ashley is a License Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), under clinical supervision of Sheila Wessels, MEd, LPC-S, RPT-S™ and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Ashley received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas (CACREP Accredited Program) specializing in children and adolescents and her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Lindenwood University. Ashley is currently working towards her Registered Play Therapist (RPT™) credential. She has experience working with children, preteens, teens, and young adults in a variety of settings including a domestic violence and sexual assault agency and schools. Her work includes providing individual, family, and group therapy services to clients with diverse needs.

She believes that play is a child’s language, and the toys are their words. Through Child-Centered play therapy and expressive art modalities, she strives to create a safe and non-judgmental space where children feel empowered to explore themselves and their abilities to overcome obstacles.

Ashley believes that the relationship is an important aspect of therapy and believes in showing the client’s unconditional acceptance, empathy, and encouragement. Ashley aims to support a child holistically by working with the parent/caregivers and other key figures. With all clients, she works in a collaborative manner to meet the client and parent where they are and to meet each family’s unique needs. Ashley is committed to cultivating a space of inclusion and connectedness for all identities.

Ashley is originally from Missouri and moved to Denton, Texas in 2018. Ashley has moved to the Austin area with her partner and their 70 lb. dog in early 2023. She enjoys exploring the nature side of Austin. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, swimming, hiking, and going to dog parks. Her favorite band is Matchbox 20.
