Sheila Wessels is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™ (RPT-S™).  She received her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University (CACREP Accredited Program) as well as her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She has had many years of experience with children of all ages and backgrounds. Prior to becoming a therapist, Sheila worked for 15 years in public education, 12 years as a Professional School Counselor and 3 years as an Elementary School Teacher.  Sheila was a Gifted and Talented Campus Coordinator, a Social and Emotional Facilitator, and a Campus Testing Coordinator for her campus. In addition, she was a lead elementary counselor for the Austin Independent School District where she mentored new counselors to the district and supported vertical team counselors through professional development and crisis.

She was the recipient of the CREST (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Texas) Award presented by the Texas Counseling Association.

Sheila has completed the professional training program for TBRI Trauma- Informed Classrooms through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development and has participated in the Neurosequential Model in Education Boot Camp led by Fellows from the Child Trauma Academy.

Originally from Austin, Sheila along with her husband, two daughters, and the amazing Charlie Biscuit (the Wessels mini chiweenie dog) enjoy all that Austin has to offer.  Sheila and her family enjoy hiking, listening to live music, trying out new restaurants, and hanging out with family and friends.


SHEILA IS PARTICULARLY WELL-SUITED TO SUPPORT FAMILIES: 

  • With children ages 3-9 who struggle with worries, ADHD, anxiety, disruptive school behavior, new siblings, grief and loss, and social skills

  • Who are interested in exploring Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

  • Who are drawn to the fact that Sheila has 15 years of experience in the school setting as a teacher and school counselor


SHEILA WORKS AT OUR SPICEWOOD OFFICE LOCATION AND OFFERS VIRTUAL SESSIONS. ALL SESSIONS ARE 45 MINUTES UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. HER RATES ARE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Individual Session $230

  • Initial Consult, Parent Consult, Parent Coaching $245

  • Family Session, CPRT $265
