Jillian Young is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University (a CACREP-accredited program) in 2020 and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016.
Jillian began her career as an educator, which sparked her passion for helping children. This experience ultimately led her to the field of counseling. While at SMU, she completed her graduate internship at The St. Anthony School, a therapeutic school in Carrollton, where she worked with students of all ages with various learning disabilities and behavioral challenges. Prior to joining Ensemble, Jillian worked with children and adolescents (ages 3-18+) in a clinical setting at Beckloff Behavioral Health Center in Dallas.
Jillian believes in creating a warm, genuine therapeutic relationship, focusing on meeting clients where they are developmentally. She takes an eclectic approach to therapy, incorporating techniques such as Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, among others, depending on the client’s needs and goals. She works closely with families to help create individualized plans that meet their needs.
Additionally, Jillian has specialized training in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a therapeutic approach designed to work exclusively with parents to address the impact of anxiety and OCD on family dynamics. Jillian has experience working with a broad range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, parenting skills, emotion regulation, adjustment and transitional challenges, and externalizing behaviors (e.g., tantrums, emotional outbursts).
Born and raised in Dallas, Jillian is excited to have moved to Austin in 2023. She enjoys spending summers on Lake Travis, cuddling with her dogs, Yogi and Bugs, playing board games, and going on hikes.
