What this book is all about:

This is the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Percy Jackson is a twelve-year-old who discovers he is a son of the Greek God Poseidon.

Why you might want to read it:

It is about Percy, who has ADHD and dyslexia, and finds out his learning difficulties are part of what makes him special. The author, Rick Riordan, wrote it for his son with dyslexia/adhd. ***Rick Riordan is a Texan. He was born and raised in San Antonio.

  1. Percy gives a warning to the reader at the beginning of the book. Did you recognize yourself in the book?

  2. Percy initially describes himself as a "troubled kid." Why does he think he's troubled?

  3. Percy's "learning challenges" are actually what makes him special. How so? What challenges do you have that make you special?
