Suzanne is a warrior for children’s mental health. She believes that every child has the superpower to heal from trauma, and the resilience to develop the necessary social and regulatory skills to become their true, authentic and best selves. Suzanne believes in working closely with caregivers and school staff in order to best support children.

She has worked as a School Counselor in elementary schools for almost 20 years, and prior to that worked as a Special Education Teacher. Suzanne has worked closely with children who have learning differences, dyslexia and autism. She has also facilitated support groups for neurotypical children who have a sibling with special needs.

Suzanne utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) with clients 7 and older, and Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) with clients 6 and younger.

Suzanne O'Brien is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT™). She is a Certified Clinical Sandtray Therapist (CCST) and recently became EMDR-Trained. She received her Master's Degree in Counseling from St. Edward's University and her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Texas State University.


SUZANNE IS PARTICULARLY WELL-SUITED TO SUPPORT FAMILIES: 

  • Who have a child with ASD who needs help developing emotional regulation strategies and social skills

  • Who have a child who has experienced trauma

  • Who are struggling with school-related issues such as separation anxiety, learning issues or problems with peers


SUZANNE WORKS AT OUR BERKMAN AND SPICEWOOD OFFICE LOCATIONS. ALL SESSIONS ARE 45 MINUTES UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. HER RATES ARE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Individual Session $230

  • Initial Consult, Parent Consult, Parent Coaching $245

  • Family Session $265
