Sarah Kelton (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate (LPC-A) supervised by Jaclyn N. Sepp, MA, LPC-S, RPT-S™, NCC, RYT®200 and Sheila Wessels, MEd, LPC-S, RPT-S™. Sarah earned her bachelors degree in Applied Learning and Development and her master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Sarah is currently working towards her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential.

Sarah has worked in public education for the past six years, and has been a school counselor for two years. She was a recipient of the CREST award (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Texas) presented by the Texas School Counseling Association and was a nominee for school counselor of the year in Austin ISD. She was the gifted and talented coordinator, social emotional learning facilitator, and parent support specialist. Sarah is a Neurosequential Model of Education (NME) Facilitator who regularly implements trauma informed practices and Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI) in order to provide a trauma informed approach for her clients.

Sarah believes that children have an innate ability to grow and mature on their own and that the best way to understand a child's behavior is by understanding the child first. Sarah utilizes many modalities including play therapy techniques, bibliotherapy, sand-tray therapy, and solution focused therapy to meet the child at a developmentally appropriate level. Sarah is an original Austinite and loves photography, rock climbing, and hiking with her husband and dog.

SARAH IS PARTICULARLY WELL-SUITED TO SUPPORT FAMILIES:

  • With young children who are looking for guidance in coping strategies, regulation, and developing a positive self concept in order to face everyday stressors with confidence.

  • Who are looking for someone to show unconditional acceptance and positive regard for their child in a safe and supportive way in order for their child to feel confident and empowered to make their own decisions.

  • Who are interested in working with someone who is familiar with the school setting and has 6 years of experience working in education as both a teacher and a school counselor.
