Maira is Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) and she is currently working towards her Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentials. Maira received both of her degrees, Bachelors in Social Work and Master of Science in Social Work, from the University of Texas - Austin. Maira has many years of experience working with children and their families. Maira has worked with children in school and healthcare settings. Maira believes parents and a client's environment play important parts in a client's life, which is why she would like for parents to be active participants during therapy. Parents know their children best!

In addition to Maira using a strength-based perspective, she will determine what approaches to use with your child based on their needs. Maira uses both non-directive and directive approaches while creating a genuine relationship with your child by providing support and acceptance. Maira's goal is for her clients to learn skills in session and apply them to their life to navigate challenges and difficult moments, so they can achieve the best version of themselves.

Maira was born and raised in Houston, TX but moved to Austin and she has now lived in Austin for 6 years. She lives here with her husband and their dog Albus.
